Wat is een IPv6-adres?
Iedereen heeft waarschijnlijk gehoord van een IP-adres. Zeer weinig mensen weten wat een IPv6-adres is. We zullen uitleggen waar dit allemaal om draait en waar de nieuwe standaard voor nodig is.
IPv6 en IPv4-adres: wat is het verschil?
IP-adressen zijn vereist voor toegang tot internet. Dienovereenkomstig wordt aan elk apparaat een toegewezen zodra het een verbinding met internet tot stand brengt.
- Volgens de IPv4-standaard bestaan de gebruikelijke IP-adressen uit maximaal 12 cijfers - bijvoorbeeld 2.280.197.209. De nieuwe IPv6-standaard bestaat uit maximaal 32 tekens.
- Omdat met IPv4 slechts ongeveer 4, 3 miljard combinaties mogelijk zijn en het aantal internetgebruikers toeneemt, was een nieuwe standaard nodig. Ongeveer 340 sextillion-combinaties zijn mogelijk met IPv6.
- Vanaf 2012 werd het nieuwe systeem ook geïntroduceerd voor Duitse internetgebruikers. Tegen 2015 wordt IPv4 volledig vervangen door IPv6 in Duitsland. Dit geldt voor zowel DSL-verbindingen als het mobiele netwerk.
- Er zijn geen wijzigingen voor de normale gebruiker. Alleen zeer oude routers kunnen problemen hebben met IPv6 en zouden moeten worden vervangen.
- De vraag rijst waarom 4, 3 miljard IP-adressen niet voldoende zijn: er wordt verondersteld dat over een paar jaar veel meer apparaten op internet zullen worden aangesloten dan nu het geval is. Koelkasten, klokken en auto's - alles kan op internet worden aangesloten. Als u ervan uitgaat dat elke inwoner van de wereld elke dag meerdere apparaten met internet verbindt, zijn de mogelijkheden van IPv4 niet langer voldoende.

- Conclusie: IPv6 zal binnen enkele jaren nodig zijn vanwege het toenemende gebruik van internet. Gebruikers hebben echter niets te vrezen en zullen de verandering nauwelijks opmerken.
