Het beheer van digitale rechten - dat is Microsoft DRM
- DRM is de afkorting voor "Digital Rights Management" en betekent in het Duits: digitaal rechtenbeheer. In dit geval is dit het digitale rechtenbeheer van Microsoft.
- Achter de term schuilt een technologie die door online winkels wordt gebruikt om de toewijzing van muziek- en videotracks te regelen die door de consument kunnen worden gekocht. Dit om te voorkomen dat gekochte audio- en video-inhoud onwettig aan derden wordt doorgegeven.
- DRM wordt bijvoorbeeld toegepast op sommige MP3-nummers op iTunes. In dit geval is het een beveiligd bestand dat u alleen als legitieme koper kunt openen.
- DRM geeft u meestal als koper het recht om een specifiek bestand af te spelen. Brand- en synchronisatierechten kunnen ook via DRM worden verkregen. De prijs van titels die alle drie de rechten omvatten, is navenant hoger.
- Zodra u een bestand dat met DRM is beveiligd in Windows Media Player afspeelt, wordt het eerst op uw rechten gecontroleerd. Het bestand kan alleen worden geopend als u het juiste gebruiksrecht op uw pc hebt geïnstalleerd na aankoop van de titel.
- Het gebruiksrecht wordt automatisch op uw pc geïnstalleerd wanneer u de titel op de achtergrond koopt.
